What happens if you see gray strikes in your candle?
It’s ok there is nothing wrong with your candle. The double boiler method that we use can cause that. What causes it is condensation from the boiling water in the pot below. Even though the pots have been cleaned after every use it can still happen.
What if it looks like my candle has separated from the jar?
This is common and is referred to as wet spots. This happens when the surrounding area is hot but becomes cool to quickly (the wax shrinks then expands). Just like if you walked into your house and it’s hot you turn on the air and your candle is proximity of a vent.
Why does it look like my candle is sweating?
1 of 2 things is happening. 1) Wax that is heated at 125 degrees melts even before it hits that degrees this may happen (so if you live in 98* humidity this will happen). If you light it at that point in will not take long for it to pool. 2) Darker in color sweat beads maybe the essential oils surfacing up. Never fear that candle is in good working order!
What is soy wax and how is it made?
Soy Wax is non-toxic, burns clean with almost no soot and allows for maximum fragrance throw. Soy wax is made out of soybeans. Our wax comes from one out of 29 soybeans farms in the USA. Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated.
What causes the white marks on my soy candles?
Occasionally, white marks may appear on soy candles due to the nature of the soy wax. The tiny, white looking crystals on the tops and sides of jars are called frosting and are very similar to the frosted look on chocolate. This is a natural characteristic of soy wax and should not be treated as a flaw. It does not affect the quality or burn of the candle.
Why is there is wet oil on top of my soy container candle?
Since soybean wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax, it can release excess (fragrance) oils which it cannot hold (usually due to extreme temperature changes due to shipping - i.e. going from hot trucks to an air-conditioned environment or going from cold trucks in the winter to heated stores). You can leave it or wipe it out with a tissue or paper towel. Sweat from soy candles does not affect the burn quality and generally the sweat drops will not show up again after your first burn.
For optimum performance of soy candles, please store in a cool area out of in-direct and direct sunlight. Also, it can be caused by the scent sweating or separating out of the soy candles. We have found that 100% soy wax does not mix well with high concentrations of pure essential oil. Therefore, scented soy candle jars are more likely to sweat when warmed during shipping. This is just the fragrance oils coming to the surface. Some soy candle manufacturers recommended that you blot the top with a Kleenex or paper towel to prevent spillage.
Q) Are MADD WIX Candles Phthalate Free?
A) YES, THEY ARE
What is phthalate and why should i care? Mainly used as plasticizers, i.e., substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, transparency, durability, and longevity. They are used primarily to soften polyvinyl chloride(PVC).
Q) Are MADD WIX Candles Paraffin Free?
A) YES, THEY ARE
Why should you care about paraffin wax? Paraffin wax is obtained from petroleum by de-waxing light lubricating oil stocks. Paraffin wax, which creates highly toxic benzene and toluene when burned (both are known carcinogens). In fact, the toxins released from paraffin candles are the same as those found in diesel fuel fumes. It has been claimed that paraffin wax releases toxic fumes when burnt, which has contributed to its fall out of favor. In 2009, a study by South Carolina State University found that burning paraffin wax candles give off harmful fumes (toluene and benzene) which is linked to asthma and lung cancer.
Q) Are MADD WIX Candles Lead and Zinc Free?
A) YES, THEY ARE
Lead can have numerous adverse health effects. The main target for lead toxicity is the nervous
system. Long-term exposure of adults to lead at work has resulted in decreased performance in some tests that measure functions of the nervous system.
Zinc is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when inhaled through the nose, as it might cause permanent loss of smell. High doses above the recommended amounts might cause fever, coughing, stomach pain, fatigue, and many other problems.
Q) What is essential oils made out of and why do you use them in your candles?
A) True Essential Oils are extracted from plants or flowers when they are at their peak. The scents are more rich and colors are more vibrant. The ways they are extracted is the most important and most difficult. Essential oils are pure liquids containing aroma compounds that are removed from the seeds, flowers, leaves, roots, and stems or bark of plants through methods such as distillation, expression or extraction. These oils carry the distinctive essence, or scent, of the plant it was made from. The only way to scent candles naturally is with pure essential oils.
Memory Burn: The first burn is the most important This memory burn the one that sets the boundaries and scent throw for every burn after that. Preparing for the burn.... rule of thumb is for every inch in diameter that your candle is wide, you need to gauge one hour of burn time. So if your candle is 2 inches wide you would need 2 hours.
Breathe Easy: Did you know that the air we breathe in our house is either what makes or breaks our health? It's true, the more harmful things that we put in the air like fabric sprays or aerosol sprays. The cheap candle we picked up at the grocery store because you had a coupon or last but not least the super expensive candle that you picked out of the candle shop that cost you 25.00. Only to have it come and gone just as fast as you bought it. NOT at MADD WIX. My candles will last you longer than any other candle you can buy at the grocery store or mall candle shop. Also what about the black soot that never seems to come off your favorite candle shade or better yet your walls and you purposely have to move it to the center of the room and now it looks out of place. NOT at MADD WIX... The wick's that are used are organic, unbleached cotton with no release of soot into the air or anything else.
Recycle ♻️: We recycle here at MADD WIX. We think that a little less materials going into landfills is a positive effect on our environment. Candle Care:
To prevent fire and serious injury: Burn wax melts & candles within sight. Keep away from drafts and vibrations. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
HOW TO BURN A CANDLE SAFELY
BEFORE LIGHTING
Trim the wick to ¼ inch each time before burning. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping or flaring into long flames.
Burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
Avoid drafts, vents or air currents. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning, sooting, and excessive dripping.
Heat Safe Surface is needed to burn your candle on. Just because the jar that the candle is in is heat safe doesn’t exclude what you place it on. Heat permeates directly where the candle is placed. Do not place candle on laminate, wicker or wood furniture, marble, clothing, bedding, plastic Kitchen or bathroom surfaces etc…
WHILE BURNING
Never touch or move a burning candle. Never move a wax melt or container candle when the wax is liquefied.
Don’t burn a candle all the way down. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 2 inches of wax remains (1/2 inch if in a container). I know it may seem like a waste of a great smelling candle but safety is more important.
Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for unwanted drafts before re-lighting. Never under any circumstances should a candle be put out with water. Candle snuffers are a good way to put your candles out or the metal lid that came with your candle. That way there is so blowing wax everywhere and the integrity of the wick and wax is not disturbed.
Always keep the candle within your sight. If you are going to leave the room, be sure to first blow out all candles.
Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room. Don’t burn too many candles in a small room or in a “tight” home where air exchange is limited.
Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, plastic etc.
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets (even the cats leap). Do not place lit candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets or anyone else.

WHEN EXTINGUISHING
Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle. It’s the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering. Candle snuffers are a good way to put your candles out or the metal lid that came with your candle. That way there is so blowing wax everywhere and the integrity of the wick and wax is not disturbed.
Never under any circumstances use water to extinguish a candle. We have all seen the videos of a popular widely known body shop business that also sells candles and where they exploded due to being cared for in the wrong ways. Water can cause the hot wax to splatter and might break a glass container and even cause your surfaces to be scorched, wax and Fragrance everywhere you don’t want it to be.
Make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing before leaving the room.
Don’t touch or move the candle until it has completely cooled.
Never use a knife or sharp object to remove wax drippings from a glass holder. It might scratch, weaken, or cause the glass to break upon subsequent use.
Done with your candle? REUSE THE JAR! Warm it in the microwave... remove once cool enough to handle and wipe excess wax and wick base away. Wash your jar with soap and warm water and taadaah!
